"WILLOW READS" SUMMER READING PROGRAM!
Willow River Elementary has set a goal of having its students read 10 minutes a night this summer! We will be collecting minutes throughout the summer, and if we reach the goal, we will have "All-School Curl Up and Read Day" this fall!
Each week during the summer, you can drop minutes off at Willow River Elementary, the Hudson Library, or you can submit them online at https://docs.google.com/a/hudson.k12.wi.us/forms/d/1xaDwf-ASpW6KEGQU76Ckf4eIbP1Gr-pXrsTAP9Rff4k/viewform
Willow River Elementary office hours may vary. Please call the office at 715-377-3880 to ensure that someone will be available to assist you.
Willow students have worked so hard at making reading gains this year, and we want to continue their growth!
MEET WILLOW STAFF AT THE LIBRARY THIS SUMMER!
Willow River staff has teamed up with Mary Davis, the children’s librarian at the Hudson Public Library, to be guest readers on Wednesdays in June and July.
Please keep this in mind each week to help your child stay motivated to find new stories to check-out. These can be stories that your child may read to earn minutes for our “Willow Reads” program (see above)!
Reminder emails will be sent each week to let you know who the guest readers will be.
When: Wednesdays (June 15, 22, 29 and July 13, 20, 27)
Where: Hudson Public Library
Time: 1:00-2:00 p.m.
START PREPARING NOW FOR NEXT YEAR’S BATTLE OF THE BOOKS!
The 2016-2017 Battle of the Books booklist is now available. Next year's 4th and 5th grade students that are interested in participating in the battle can get a head start on reading over the summer. You can also use these books for your minutes for the Willow Reads program (see above)!
Family Vacation Requests
Whenever possible, family vacations should be taken when school is not in session. When circumstances require a student to miss school for a family vacation, the parent/guardian must notify the school prior to the absence and complete the Family Vacation Request form. Failure to notify the school through the Family Vacation Request form and/or make up work missed may result in an unexcused absence.
