Daily Announcements

As the cold weather approaches:
Please remember to dress your child appropriately for outdoor play, the bus stop or walking to and from school.

February is: I LOVE TO READ MONTH at Willow River

Mrs. Shoemaker will be calling students between 7:00-7:30pm on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays, during the month of February.    Each day students who were "caught reading" when she calls your home, will be announced on the Wolf Report.  The class with the highest percentage "caught reading" will be the lucky recipients of a sledding party with Mrs. Shoemaker on the vine Street Hill.

Watch for the permission to "call" slips being sent home, so you can participate in this fun event.

Re: Beginning Band at the end of 5th Grade

For your information:  The Hudson instrumental music department requires two years of piano lessons prior to testing for percussion in the beginning band.  Although a student has attained the required years of piano lessons, this does NOT guarantee their placement as a percussionist.  Each year 10 students will be selected from those who were tested.  The test is based on individual written examples and rhythmic coordination.

Note:  Students who are not selected to be a percussionist are eligible and highly encouraged to play one of many other wind instruments that are offered.  A list of area piano teachers can be provided to you by one of the Hudson Band directors by emailing:meinckcr@hudson.k12.wi.us or rootca@hudson.k12.wi.us.
